Beijing, June 22 /Xinhua/ — Beijing was visited by 8.466 million tourists during the three-day Duanwu Festival (Dragon Boat Festival), the Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism reported on Sunday.

The total turnover from tourism reached 11.35 billion yuan (about 1.67 billion USD), according to agency data.

In the Chinese capital, 87 thousand inbound tourists were registered, which is 31.2% more compared to the same period last year; at the same time, receipts increased by 31.4% annually, amounting to 950 million yuan.

During the holiday days, various cultural and tourist events were held in Beijing, with a total number reaching almost 2 thousand.

The above-mentioned administration published 10 tourist routes dedicated to the holiday theme, which contributed to the increase in the number of family trips to nature. The events, combining traditional Chinese culture with modern fashionable elements, attracted a large number of young visitors seeking to gain an immersive and interactive experience, while traditional dragon boat races and fairs in the park attracted both locals and tourists with their unique folk customs color.

In Beijing, during the period, there were 1136 commercial performances, according to official data.

The department also launched 10 tourist routes dedicated to the exhibition theme, combining more than 20 exhibitions located near cultural institutions, historic districts, and shopping areas, which effectively stimulated complex tours in these zones. -0-
