Vladivostok, June 20 /Xin Hua/ — The “China Day” festival and photo exhibition, dedicated to the achievements of modernization in the Chinese style, took place on Saturday in the Russian city of Vladivostok. Dozens of thousands of people attended the events.
Thanks to diverse formats, including photo exhibitions, demonstrations of technological products, interactive cultural events, tastings of dishes, and artistic performances, the organizers comprehensively and multifacetedly presented the outstanding traditional Chinese culture and China’s modernization achievements to the residents of the Russian Far East.
The Consul General of the PRC in Vladivostok, U De Min, noted at the opening of the festival that civilizations are enriched through exchanges, and friendship is strengthened through interaction. According to him, China and Russia are neighbors, and the friendship between the peoples of the two countries has deep roots and has flourished over many years. At the current festival, residents of the Russian Far East will be able to touch upon the ancient traditions and the modern face of China, the diplomat added.
“Recently, our trade relations with China have been strengthening, cooperation in the fields of transport, agriculture, science, and education is expanding, as well as in tourism and the humanitarian sphere. And today, in this festive atmosphere, we see how Chinese culture becomes closer and more understandable to each of us,” noted Vera Scherbina, the first vice governor of Primorsky Krai, chairman of the government of this region.
The “China Day” festival and a photo exhibition about the achievements of China’s modernization were jointly organized by the Consulate General of the PRC in Vladivostok and the Xinhuanet news agency. –0–
