Within the framework of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” by 2026, more than 500 sections of roads in the regional and local road network in Russia will be brought up to regulatory standards, leading to medical institutions.

Medical Worker’s Day is an occasion to once again express gratitude for work that demands high responsibility, professionalism, and full dedication. Our task is to create conditions that will help medical workers fulfill their professional duty, including ensuring quality access roads to medical facilities, because the road is one of the significant factors affecting the speed and timeliness of assistance provided to patients.”So, under the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” this year we plan to carry out road works on 524 sections of the regional and local road network – on routes to regional and city polyclinics, large medical centers, and small outpatient clinics. The total length of such projects will exceed 2.6 thousand km,” said Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
Bryansk, Kamozina Street
Access roads to medical institutions have been prioritized from the very beginning of the implementation of the national road project.
“From 2019 to 2024, under the national project “Safe and High-Quality Roads,” 3.1 thousand road facilities were renovated, providing access to hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare institutions. In 2025, this work continued under the national project “Infrastructure for Life” – at that time, 530 such sections were updated. Road works are being carried out both in the outskirts of large cities and in small settlements, as access to medical institutions is one of the most important factors affecting the quality and longevity of life of our country’s population,” noted Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin.
As a rule, road works at such a facility are carried out comprehensively: during the repairs, not only is the carriageway renewed, but also safety elements are installed.
“Access to polyclinics, hospitals, and FAPs must be convenient for all road users. Special attention is paid to the accessibility of road infrastructure for low-mobility citizens and people with limited health capabilities. A number of projects provide for such works as the installation of barrier and pedestrian fences, sidewalks with lowered ramps, traffic light modernization, and updating of bus stop complexes.”This not only contributes to the improvement of transport infrastructure but also to the enhancement of people’s quality of life, and this is the main goal of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” emphasized the head of the Federal Road Agency, Roman Novikov.
In the Bezhitsky district of Bryansk, a section of the highway on Kamozina Street — from 3rd Internatsionala Street to Ulyanov Street — has been completely renovated. This is the route to Bryansk City Hospital No. 1, which includes a perinatal center. In addition, there is the open Pantaleimon the Healer Church for all here.
Major repairs began last year, the road workers replaced the asphalt concrete pavement on the roadway, sidewalk, and hospital parking lot. Another parking lot was equipped next to the “Vorobushok” kindergarten at the request of local residents, and the sidewalk was also widened here. The facility is now being prepared for commissioning.
In the capital of Priamurye, Blagoveshchensk, a section of the road on Vasilenko Street, which leads to the Amur Regional Clinical Hospital, is being repaired. This is one of the largest and most technologically equipped multidisciplinary medical institutions in the Far East. Annually, assistance is provided here to 180 thousand patients.
Currently, stormwater drainage repair is underway on the section of the road along Vasilenko Street. In July, work is planned to arrange the road base and a two-layer asphalt concrete pavement. Traffic light facilities will also be modernized here, new road signs installed, and modern bus shelters erected. Additionally, under the concession agreement, the street lighting system will be modernized.
In Magadan this year, a major road repair began on Karl Marx Avenue on the section from Boldyrev Street to the Ring Road. This is the route to City Polyclinic No. 3, the maternity hospital, the children’s hospital, Children’s Tuberculosis Sanatorium No. 2, and several pharmacy points.
The contractor is currently dismantling the worn-out coating and curbstone, later new asphalt concrete pavement will be laid here, curbs and monolithic artificial unevenness will be installed, sidewalks will be renovated. In addition, outdoor lighting lines will be arranged at the site and improvement of the adjacent territory will be carried out.
In Tambov, a section of the road along Moskovskaya Street is being repaired, which leads to the Tambov Regional Clinical Hospital named after V.D. Babenko, where doctors perform unique heart and vascular surgeries using laser and endovascular technologies. In 2025 alone, the radiology and surgery department performed more than 10 thousand interventions.
Repair work is already underway on the section of Moskovskaya Street from Sovetskaya to Montazhnikov Passage. The length of the project is more than 1.8 km. The contractor has performed milling of worn layers of the pavement and work on the construction of a leveling layer made of asphalt concrete. Next, the road workers will have to lay the top layer, equip sidewalks, including widening them in the area of the regional hospital, install a new street lighting system, and apply thermoplastic road markings. Completion of work on this project is planned for November 2026.
