Bishkek, June 19 /Xinhua/ — Today, in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan, a Media Forum of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), organized by the country’s Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy, took place.
The Media Forum unites representatives of government bodies, leading media, news agencies, digital platforms, and the expert community of the SCO member states. About a hundred representatives of SCO states, including a Chinese delegation whose representative gave a speech, participated in the forum.
The main purpose of the event is to strengthen media cooperation between the SCO countries, develop partnership ties in the field of information and communications, as well as to form a unified professional dialogue in the context of the digital transformation of the media environment.
In his greeting, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulan Mamatkanov noted that the forum provides a unique opportunity to discuss current trends in the development of the media sphere, prospects for the implementation of innovative technologies, the role of digital platforms in modern journalism, as well as issues of professional responsibility and compliance with ethical standards in a rapidly changing information landscape.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO, Oleg Kopylov, stated that in the modern world, where information increasingly serves as a weapon, and fakes become an integral part of life, it is necessary to take a proactive position, being the first to disseminate reliable information, leaving no room for distortions, stereotypes, and fabrications.
Three plenary sessions on the issues of digital transformation of the media sphere, development of artificial intelligence in journalism, as well as the role of digital platforms as new media, were held within the framework of the forum. –0–
