The overall readiness for the major overhaul of the external contour of the building complex of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov on Mokhovaya and Bolshaya Nikitskaya streets exceeded 90%. Specialists from the Public Procurement Center “Unified Customer in the Field of Construction” are completing the restoration of facades, plinths, and entrances of the Zoological Museum, the faculties of Psychology and Arts, as well as the Institute of Asian and African Countries. This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Government Marat Khusnullin.
Works on these sites are of great importance for preserving the historical appearance of the city center and ensuring a comfortable educational environment in the country’s leading university. Specialists of the “Unified Customer” and the contracting organization, under the coordination of the Department of Cultural Heritage of the city of Moscow, are completing major repairs and restoration of facades, plinths, and entrances of several groups of buildings of the Zoological Museum, the faculties of psychology and arts, as well as the Institute of Asian and African Countries. The overall readiness of the major repairs of the external contour of the MSU buildings exceeds 90%. The area of the renovated facades exceeds 15 thousand square meters.”Hmm,” said Marat Khusnullin.
The Vice Prime Minister added that the builders are also carrying out work in a building located nearby, the Faculty of Journalism of MSU. Necessary dismantling and preparatory works have been completed there, and specialists are starting the repair of the building’s interior premises.
Simultaneously, a large-scale overhaul of the main university building is underway on Vorobyovy Gory. Specialists have renovated the 7th, 12th, and 22nd floors of the building, where the premises of the geological, geographical, and mechanico-mathematical faculties are located.
“Currently, the renovation is being completed on the 10th, 13th, and 21st floors of the main building of MSU named after M.V. Lomonosov. By the end of the year, the 8th, 9th, 11th, and 23rd floors will be updated. The builders are updating interiors, repairing engineering systems, and restoring the historical furniture located there — tables, cabinets, wooden wall panels, chandeliers, and many other decorative items,” said Karen Oganesyan, the General Director of PPK “United Customer.”
By the end of 2026, it is also planned to update the facade of the main university building and its roof, carry out major repairs of the spire with the star, small architectural forms, and entrance groups.
