Beijing, June 18 /Xin Hua/ — In 2025, the number of solved criminal cases related to drugs in China decreased by 27.6 percent year-on-year and amounted to about 27 thousand, indicating significant progress in the ongoing fight against drugs, according to official data from the country’s anti-drug agencies published on Wednesday.
In 2025, about 41 thousand suspects in similar crimes were detained, which is 33 percent less than in the previous year, Wei Xiaoqiong, Deputy Chief of the Office of the State Committee for Combating Drug Trafficking of the CPC and Head of the Department for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of the PRC, reported at a press conference.
He added that a total of 33.5 tons of drugs were seized, which is 25.4 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.
The above-mentioned department published the “Report on the Drug Situation in China in 2025,” which notes a significant change in the structure of abuse of psychoactive substances in the country. According to the data, the number of people using traditional narcotics, as well as anesthetics and psychoactive substances, is decreasing, while abuse of uncontrolled substances causing dependence is noticeably increasing and increasingly affecting younger age groups.
The next stage of the fight against drugs will be based on an integrated approach, providing coordination of efforts at the national and international levels, a combination of law enforcement measures both on the Internet and in real life, as well as targeting both new and traditional drugs, said Lan Wei Yun, another official representative of the agency.
