An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.
The Bank of Russia is considering the possibility of creating a separate component in the digital ruble infrastructure — a commercial smart contract platform (CSCP). This will allow market participants to independently develop smart contract scenarios, while citizens and companies will be able to choose the most suitable offers depending on their tasks.
Smart contracts are programs (algorithms) that automatically execute deal conditions upon the occurrence of predetermined events. Improving such algorithms is one of the development directions of the digital ruble platform. Currently, only the Bank of Russia creates “smart contracts” on it. At the same time, market participants are interested in developing their own types of such contracts to offer clients new services with the digital ruble on their basis.
Architecture of PCSK,conceptwhich is published by the regulator, will provide them with such an opportunity. In doing so, they will be able to place their smart contracts inÂspecial showcase.
It is assumed that the operator of the platform at the first stage will be the Bank of Russia.
The concept presents a description of PKSK, the roles and functions of its participants, as well as examples of possible scenarios for smart contracts. In addition, the material reflects approaches to ensuring the information security of PKSK.
The regulator proposes to discuss the main aspects of platform implementation. Answers to the questions raised in the concept, proposals, and comments on it can be sent until September 30, 2026 inclusive to the address:fintech@cbr.ru.
