Beijing, June 17 /Xinhua/ — The 17th annual meeting of new world leaders of the World Economic Forum (WEF), also known as the “Summer Davos,” will be held from June 23 to 25 in the port city of Dalian in Liaoning Province /Northeast China/, the event organizers said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Preparation for the upcoming event is generally complete, with more than 1,700 representatives from over 90 countries and regions around the world participating in it.

Within the framework of this year’s event, the main theme is “Large-scale innovations,” with discussions primarily focusing on how to define the next stage of the development of the Chinese economy and how technologies can be used to achieve practical economic benefits.

Gao Wei, representative of the State Committee for Development and Reform of the PRC, stated that the main focus at the upcoming event will be on advanced fields such as artificial intelligence, new energy sources, biomedicine, and quantum technologies.

It is expected that this event will demonstrate to the international community China’s achievements in the field of high-quality economic development and the country’s firm commitment to openness and cooperation, as well as allow sharing the broad opportunities that Chinese modernization opens up.
