From June 8 to 11, a joint meeting of the board of the Association of Construction Universities (ASV), the presidium of the Federal Educational and Methodological Association (FUMO) for the consolidated group of specialties and training directions (UGSN) 08.00.00. Andrey Nikulin presented to colleagues the main results of SPbGASU’s preparation for admitting applicants under the new training program 08.03.01. Construction, profile “Restoration of buildings and structures.”
“Interest in the new profile is genuine. The discussion of the main requirements for the content of the work programs of disciplines and the curriculum as a whole arouses interest among the architects of the city of Yakutsk, since the city, with its almost four-century history, restores cultural heritage sites, but the burden on the regional budget is sometimes unbearable, and the main expenses fall on private business, which, aiming for commercialization, has its own vision of the new functionality of the object, which is far from always possible to realize, and this requires competent engineering support,” noted a representative of our university.
Head of the Department of Architecture and Urban Construction at SVFUNikolay Alekseev, who for 13 years held the position of chief architect of Yakutsk, said: “We fought for every element of the structure and decor during the restoration and recreation of the “old town” of Yakutsk, which entrepreneurs and hotels tried to use at their own commercial discretion… Without engineering justification of the elements of the restoration project of wooden structures, it would have been difficult to find a compromise with the investors.”
Director of the Engineering Institute of SVFUEkaterina Arhangelskayapresented to the participants of the meeting a project of an advanced engineering school “Geotechnical Engineering in the Cryolithozone,” aimed at training specialists and researchers for the construction industry in conditions of permafrost soils. The new engineering school will unite the academic community, the innovation ecosystem of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), industry partners, service companies, and engineering centers.
Andrey Nikulin discussed with Ekaterina Arhangelskaya the prospects of cooperation between two universities in the field of geotechnics under permafrost conditions, as well as the construction and operation of underground structures, where the Geotechnics Department of SPbGASU enjoys high authority. Furthermore, they considered interaction in the field of information modeling technologies, which are beginning to develop actively at SVFU, and the experience of SPbGASU is highly demanded not only for the development of the educational process but also for the design of private housing construction objects.”Our graduates receive an order of magnitude more commissions from private clients than other designers, as they are able to present a three-dimensional model of the future house, as well as promptly make changes to the project. For our republic, this is an innovative approach in the field of private housing construction,” noted the senior lecturer of the Department of Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation at SVFU.Artyom Fedorov.
Andrei Nikulin proposed to colleagues to create a joint scientific and technical center for more effective cooperation in the field of scientific, technological and personnel support of the construction industry.
