Washington, June 17 /Xin Hua/ — US military forces struck a vessel in the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean, resulting in one person killed and two survivors. This was reported on Tuesday by the US Southern Command.

The “combined operational group ‘Southern Spear'” delivered a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel controlled by organizations recognized as terrorist groups,” the command statement published on the social network X says.

“Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was following a known drug trafficking route in the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean and was involved in a drug smuggling operation,” said the American military, while experts and human rights activists cast doubt on the legality of such strikes.

According to a report by the Associated Press, this attack has brought the number of casualties from US strikes on ships to at least 208 since the beginning of September last year, when the administration of US President Donald Trump began conducting operations against “drug terrorists.” –0–
