A meeting of the organizational committee for the preparation and conduct of the XIV International Forum “Russia – a Sporting Power” (“RSD”) was held at the Coordination Center of the Government under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. The forum is held in accordance with a decree of the President of Russia.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, Advisor to the President of Russia, Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the forum Anton Kobyakov, Minister of Sport and President of the Russian Olympic Committee Mikhail Delyagtyaryov, and Governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai Mikhail Kotyukov.
“The pre-Olympic forum will take place very soon in Krasnoyarsk – a region known to us, respected and rich in sports traditions, with experience in organizing international events: both the Universiade and annual international tournaments. “Russia – a sporting power” is a significant event in the sporting life of the country and the world, which traditionally attracts the attention of all specialists. The venue must be actively used for productive interaction with the international sports movement,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Advisor to the President of Russia, Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the Anton Kobyakov Forum, noted that the forum “Russia – a sporting power” as an international platform for dialogue about the future of the sports sector has long since gone beyond the country’s borders and has become one of the key international sports-business events, as well as significantly expanding the presence of foreign participants – as the only available platform for constructive dialogue with the international sports community.
Over the years of holding the forum, it has acquired the status of a significant international event, significantly increasing the number of foreign participants and organizations involved. Just last year, representatives from 58 countries participated in the forum. “RSD” has become the only platform at the moment for discussing current international sports issues and searching for ways to expedite the return of our athletes to the world sports arena. At the forum’s platform, international ties are formed and strengthened, decisions are made aimed at developing the sports industry worldwide.”Russia – a sporting power” will be one of the first global forums after the IOC session. In this regard, the forum in Krasnoyarsk will become an important platform both for responding to possible decisions and for presenting the Russian experience in this agenda to the world of sports,” emphasized Anton Kobyakov.
Minister of Sports, Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee Mikhail Deytyaryov spoke about the preparation for holding the forum.
“After thorough elaboration, we settled on Krasnoyarsk Krai. The region has modern sports infrastructure and extensive experience in hosting major competitions at the federal and international levels. Krasnoyarsk has repeatedly confirmed its readiness to host large-scale sports events and to ensure a high level of organization,” said the head of the department.
As Mikhail Degtyaryov noted, defining the operator of the Roscongress Foundation forum will allow ensuring continuity in the preparation and further integration of the forum into the line of the country’s largest business and public events.
Special attention will be paid to the substantive part of the forum and the international agenda.
“Together with the Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Roscongress Foundation, we are developing the concept of the forum. The focus is on the implementation of state policy in the sphere of sports, the development of international cooperation, sports diplomacy, and increasing the accessibility of mass sports. We expect the participation of representatives from more than 100 states, international organizations, heads of government bodies, sports federations, and leading industry experts,” concluded Mikhail Degtyaryov.
In turn, the governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai noted the region’s experience in holding large-scale congress and exhibition events, as well as readiness to host the “RSD”.
“Krasnoyarsk will celebrate its 400th anniversary in 2028, and we are already preparing the city for hosting major events. In 2019, Krasnoyarsk hosted the Winter Universiade – its legacy is actively functioning and will be involved in the forum’s activities. I have no doubt that with the task of successfully holding the forum ‘Russia – a sporting power,’ we will cope and present Krasnoyarsk as a modern platform for developing adequate measures to respond to today’s situation,” added Mikhail Kotyukov.
The XIV International Sports Forum “Russia – a Sporting Power” will be held in Krasnoyarsk from October 21 to 23 this year with the support of the Government of Russia and the Ministry of Sports. The operator is the foundation “Roscongress” with the support of the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The main events of the forum will take place at the site of the International Exhibition and Business Center “Siberia”.
