Moscow, June 11 /Xin Hua/ — Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of cinematography is large-scale, multifaceted, and developing quite actively. This was stated on Wednesday by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.
“Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of cinematography occupies a special place in our humanitarian ties. The holding of the Cross Years of Culture in 2024-2025 has given bilateral cooperation in this area, of course, new dynamics and a new quality of development,” he said in response to Xin Hua’s question.
M. Zakarova noted joint projects such as the historical action movie “Red Silk” and its sequel—the film “Black Silk,” filming of which was recently completed in China. The diplomat expressed hope that the sequel would evoke the same interest among viewers in China and Russia as the first film.
“Our cooperation in the field of cinema is large-scale and multifaceted. Representatives of the film industry actively participate in competitive programs of well-known festival venues both in Russia and in China,” she added and recalled a number of awards received by Russian and Chinese filmmakers at various film festivals.
“The highest level of relations achieved between our states allows us to build the most ambitious plans for cooperation in all areas of humanitarian interaction, including, of course, such a nationally beloved genre as cinema. We count on the continuation and strengthening of the corresponding dynamic development of specialized ties in this and other fields,” concluded M. Zaarova.
