New York, June 12 /Sin Hua/ — Two people were killed, and 10 more were injured on Friday morning as a result of a shooting in Midland in the American state of Texas. Local authorities reported this.
According to Midland Mayor Lori Blong, one victim died at the scene, and the shooting suspect was declared dead after the shootout.
“The shooting incident has been resolved, the suspect is dead,” the Midland city authorities reported on Facebook.
Shooting began in the southeast of Midland and continued to the south. Nine injured were taken to the hospital, four of them underwent surgery, according to a hospital representative. Five injured, whose condition is assessed as stable, have been discharged.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the 45-year-old suspect, Victor Mata Villarreal, was wanted on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer. On Wednesday, during a car chase, he allegedly fired several shots at the police.
