A meeting on the issues of rescue and development of the Solovetsky Archipelago was held at the Government Coordination Center under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

At the meeting, the implementation of the Government’s instructions related to the work on the restoration of cultural heritage sites and the construction of new ones, as well as the implementation of measures for the development of the Solovetsky Archipelago, was discussed.

“Preparation for the 600th anniversary of the founding of the first monastic settlement on the Solovetsky Archipelago, which will be celebrated in 2029 by decree of the head of state, is our honorable mission. We conduct it in synchronization with general state tasks. Infrastructure issues are key today. During preparation for the anniversary, it is necessary to strictly observe the deadlines for the construction and restoration of cultural heritage sites, social and housing-communal spheres,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

“There is currently a summer children’s health improvement campaign in the region — our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin paid special attention to it yesterday. This summer, thanks to the joint work of the Ministry of Education and the regions, students of the Solovki secondary school will be able to go to ‘Artek,’ and the school’s graduates — to ‘Scarlet Sails’ in St. Petersburg,” he added.

This year, an application was submitted to participate in the All-Russian competition for the best projects for creating a comfortable urban environment. In case the Ministry of Construction of Russia makes a positive decision, we will proceed with the development of design and estimate documentation,” said Alexander Tsybulskiy.

The chairman of the Solovetsky Archipelago Care and Development Fund, Andrey Guts, reported on the implementation of measures for the preservation of cultural heritage sites, construction, and reconstruction of infrastructure facilities. The Fund is working on 13 priority cultural heritage sites and 5 capital construction projects.
