Top 10 projects, 6 jury members, and one winner – a ceremonial defense of the best projects of the “Service Training” program of the spring semester took place at GUU.

Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Olga Petrova greeted those gathered via videoconference and emphasized the achievements of the State University of Management in the implementation of the program.

“Training in service is not just a project; behind it lies the solution to important questions and problems concerning people. And through the use of professional competencies, students address this task. I want to highlight the initiative of GUU in this field and the excellently organized systematic work at the university,” said Olga Petrova.

Deputy Rector of GUU Dmitry Bryukhanov noted the increase in student involvement in project implementation of the program.

“Our university is renowned for its leadership in project-based student learning, which starts from the first year. It is important that not only entrepreneurial projects are considered, but there is also a scientific track and a ‘learning through service’ track that is gaining increasing popularity among students. Students not only start their own businesses but develop solutions to social problems of the government and partners. This semester, students have prepared over 140 projects in very diverse directions, and today we will see the 10 best works,” said Dmitry Bryanov.

The president of the “Many Mothers” Center for Assistance to Large Families, Alina Kontareva, who spoke on behalf of the university’s partner organizations, admitted that the organization works with many universities and partners, but it is firmly associated specifically with GUU thanks to close interaction and high professionalism of the students.

At the solemn defense, the work was presented by 10 project teams from all institutes of GUU. The projects were dedicated to very diverse topics: from organizing events to developing programs and educational materials.

The jury included co-founder and deputy director of the Charitable Foundation for Aid to Children and Families “Providenie” Irina Pshennikova, director of the project mentoring center GUU Ekaterina Illarionova, head of the “Growing Good” program Elena Solovyova, project manager, representative of the Social Projects Support Foundation Inna Fedorova, and other university partners.

Based on the results of the presentations, the best project was recognized as the work “Mosaic of a Special Childhood” by first-year students of the “Business Informatics” program. The young people developed an informational brochure about the necessity of regular rehabilitation for children with disabilities, including those with incurable diseases, as well as about comprehensive activities that help the child adapt in society, develop abilities, communicate, and feel needed.

The Audience Choice Award was given to the “Guide to Yaroslavl,” prepared by students specializing in “Hotel and Restaurant Business” for wards of the assistance center for large families “Mnogomama.”

Congratulations to all participants and partners on this holiday of good deeds, and we wish no less interesting tasks in the coming year!
