Almaty, June 10 /Xinhua/ — June 10, 2026 marks the second International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations, established by the UN. The establishment of this day is a concrete measure by the international community to implement the initiative of the Chairperson of the CPC, Xi Jinping, on global civilization. This fully testifies that this initiative meets the aspirations and demands of the times, increasingly becoming an international consensus, stated the Chinese ambassador to Kazakhstan Han Chunlin in an article for the newspaper “Delovoy Kazakhstan.”

As the diplomat writes, the mentioned initiative is aimed at promoting the progress of human civilization. To solve the problems of the present, it is first and foremost necessary to lay the foundations of the right path. Faced again with the emerging ideas of “alienation of civilizations” and “civilizational superiority,” China consistently advocates for equal relations between different cultures, mutual study and exchange of experience, continuously finding new ways of intercivilizational communication, overcoming the concepts of clash and superiority of civilizations.

In 2023, the Chinese leader put forward and deeply explained the Initiative of Global Civilization. Its essence lies in jointly promoting respect for the diversity of world civilizations, common values of all humanity, the importance of inheritance and innovation of civilizations, as well as strengthening international humanitarian exchanges and cooperation.

As the article states, this initiative decisively rejects the outdated logic of oppression of the weak by the strong and the principle “the winner takes all,” calling for openness and broad perspectives to understand the value content of different civilizations, to carry out equal exchanges and mutual learning on equal terms, which corresponds to the common aspirations of the international community striving for peace, development, and cooperation.

The author added that following the Initiative for Global Development and the Initiative for Global Security, the Initiative for Global Civilization has become another important public good provided by China to the international community in a new era. It contributes Chinese wisdom to advancing the progress of human civilization and countering common global challenges.

As Pososh writes, the Initiative of Global Civilization is deeply rooted in the fertile soil of Chinese civilization, whose history of development is also a chronicle of exchanges and mutual enrichment with other civilizations. The Initiative began with the search for and practice of Chinese modernization. In his opinion, the questions “What kind of modernization do we need? And how to achieve it?” are essentially also questions of civilization.

According to the diplomat, since the process of global modernization began in Western capitalist countries, human society was for a long time captive to the myth that ‘modernization means Westernization.’ Based on real national conditions, China has successfully paved the path of Chinese modernization, undergoing the process of industrialization in several decades, which took developed countries a century. Thus, China has created a new form of human civilization and convincingly proved that human civilization can be diverse and multifaceted.

Han Chunlin expressed the belief that the traditional friendship between China and Kazakhstan is a vivid example of intercivilizational exchange and mutual learning. China and Kazakhstan, connected by common mountains and rivers, are good neighbors, loyal friends, and reliable partners. “The millennia-old history of contacts between the two countries is a living chronicle of mutual study and enrichment of civilizations.”The call of the Kazakh thinker Abai Kunanbaev to the ceaseless search for knowledge and openness to the world fully resonates with the Confucian saying that “among three people walking together, there will surely be my teacher,” writes the diplomat.

Han Chunlin also noted that in the new era, under the strategic leadership of the leaders of the two countries, China-Kazakhstan relations demonstrate rapid development, having reached a historically high level of lasting comprehensive strategic partnership. The construction of the China-Kazakhstan community with a shared future, characterized by eternal friendship, deep mutual trust and solidarity, development and prosperity, is progressing at a confident pace.

According to the diplomat, currently Sino-Kazakh relations demonstrate powerful vitality and dynamics, confidently progressing towards a new ‘golden thirty years.’ From a new historical starting point, the Chinese side is ready, together with the Kazakh side, to conscientiously implement important agreements reached by the heads of the two states.

Han Chunlin expressed confidence that China will resolutely expand all-round cooperation, unswervingly promote bilateral civilizational exchanges and mutual learning, thereby making a new and more significant contribution to building a community with a shared future for mankind and creating a better world. –0–
