Beijing, June 10 /Xinhua/ — The administration of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has presented themselves as complete traitors to the Chinese nation before foreign forces, said on Wednesday the official representative of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the PRC, Zhang Han.

She made this statement at a press conference in response to a request from the media to comment on the reaction of the DPP authorities to the statement by Japan and the Philippines regarding the so-called “maritime boundary negotiations” in relation to the waters east of the Chinese island of Taiwan, where China possesses an exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

Having begun the so-called “negotiations on the delimitation of maritime boundaries” with China, Japan and the Philippines have grossly infringed upon China’s maritime rights and interests, as well as violated international law and the fundamental norms of international relations, said Zhang Han, adding that this step is “absolutely illegal and has no legal force.”

An official representative emphasized that by kowtowing to external forces, the DPR authorities have sunk to the level of traitors to the nation.

Zhang Han noted that, faced with broad condemnation from compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait in reaction to the actions of Japan and the Philippines, the DPP changed its rhetoric, giving a new dimension to its separatist delusions in an attempt to distract attention and mislead the public.

“We strictly warn the authorities of the DPR that everyone without exception who forgets their heritage and betrays the nation will be nailed to the pillar of shame in history,” he said. -0-
