In the capital, the results of the professional skills competition “Moscow Masters” for the profession “Social Worker” were summed up. In 2026, more than 100 employees of the Moscow social protection system competed for the title of the best.

Over the past few years, the home care system in the capital has seriously changed. Assistance depends on the requests of the individual person. An individual support program, which takes into account their life situation, is drawn up for each Muscovite. The standard home care package includes over 20 services. Modern technologies allow providing help more specifically and effectively.

Social workers daily take care of tens of thousands of elderly and people with disabilities living alone at home. They solve everyday issues of Muscovites, accompany them to medical institutions and on walks, help them master modern digital services. But the most important thing is giving Muscovites attention, care, and warm communication. More than 100 participants in this year’s “Moscow Masters” competition have proven that the profession of a social worker is a special path where not only professional competencies matter, but also the ability to listen, empathize, and find words of support in the most diverse situations.”The city is focusing on developing such specialists and creating conditions for their growth, because it is precisely they who shape the face of modern social protection,” the press service emphasized.

The competition consisted of several stages, each of which modeled real situations from the daily practice of a social worker. At the “Communication” stage, participants demonstrated how to establish a trusting contact with a resident, explain the procedure for providing assistance, and, if necessary, resolve a conflict situation.

During this stage of the “Risk Assessment” competition, the participants demonstrated how to protect city residents from widespread scams and provide psychological support to elderly Muscovites if they have encountered fraud.

Special attention was paid to providing first aid. The contestants demonstrated the execution of the basic algorithm of actions in case of loss of consciousness in an elderly person and conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a mannequin.

10 specialists made it to the final. They demonstrated how to properly use digital services together with older Muscovites — from turning on a smartphone and choosing an application to arranging grocery delivery and paying utility bills. The final task was to solve theoretical questions on knowledge of professional standards, regulatory and legal frameworks, and ethical principles of work.
