Tehran, June 10 / Xinhua/ — Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday strongly condemned another “military aggression” committed by the United States against Iran earlier the same day.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Intelligence of Iran, after the crash of the American Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz on the night of Monday, the United States carried out “severe” strikes on regions in southern Iran early Wednesday morning, which constitutes a “blatant violation” of the UN Charter.
In response to the encroachment on the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic, exercising their lawful right to self-defense, have dealt “serious blows” to the US bases and facilities in Western Asia, the statement notes.
Tehran also called on countries in the region not to allow the use of their territory and facilities for planning, organizing, committing, and supporting “acts of aggression” against Iran, warning of retaliatory actions.
After the attack, the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate telephone negotiations with his Turkish and Saudi colleagues Hakan Fidan and Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud regarding recent events in the region, the ministry reported.
Earlier on the same day, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran confirmed that early Wednesday morning strikes were carried out using rockets and drones against American bases in Basra, Kuwait, and Jordan.
The U.S. Central Command early Wednesday morning reported on the social network X that its forces struck “self-defense” targets against Iranian targets in response to the “shooting down of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter,” adding that this operation became a “proportional response to recent attacks on U.S. armed forces and international commercial ships passing through the region’s waters.” –0–
