Financial News: Report “Regional Economy”: Economic Activity Increased.

Economic activity in April – May increased in most sectors. It was supported by increased external demand for certain Russian export goods. For example, companies in Siberia and the Far East increased coal mining and shipment, while in the Urals and Central Russia fertilizer production grew.

The change in consumer demand in the region in April–May was mixed. Enterprises in many macro-regions reported a decrease in demand for furniture and household appliances. Hotel occupancy in the South and Northwest was lower than a year ago due to a shorter May holidays week. At the same time, representatives of the hospitality sector of Volga-Vyatka noted an increase in tourist flow: people were attracted, among other things, by sports and cultural events held in the region. In the Urals, online segment purchases grew faster.
