Pyongyang, June 8 /Xinhua/ — Relations between China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea enter a new historical starting point. This was stated on Monday by the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the NPC Xi Jinping.
Si Jinxin made an appropriate statement during a welcoming banquet held in his honor by the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK Kim Jong Un.
As Si Zhenpin noted, China and the DPRK are connected by common mountains and rivers, and their fates are inextricably intertwined. He stated that the traditional friendship between the two countries, despite being tested by the changing international situation, is passed down from generation to generation and only grows stronger over the years.
Si Jinping emphasized that this year, marking the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance between the PRC and the DPRK, Sino-North Korean relations will enter a new historical starting point. According to him, during the current visit, he has reached important agreements with General Secretary Kim Jong Un.
As indicated by the chairman of the CPC, the leaders of the two countries agreed that it is necessary from the perspective of strategic vision of the prospects and fate of socialism to recognize the general trend of the times, respond to the common aspirations of the peoples, intensify exchanges at a high level, deepen strategic communication, expand practical cooperation, bring people’s hearts closer together, and contribute to the high-level development of China-North Korea relations, in order to jointly create an even better future for the socialist cause in both countries and promote the continuous progress of human society.
This year, Xi Jinping continued and successfully passed the 19th Congress of the Communist Party of China, at which strategic plans were adopted and important directives were given concerning the long-term development of the party and state affairs of the PRC, which marked the beginning of a new period of comprehensive development of North Korean socialism.
Being a good neighbor, a reliable friend, and a loyal comrade of the DPRK, China wholeheartedly wishes that under the firm leadership of the CPC Central Committee headed by General Secretary Kim Jong Un, the North Korean people successfully accomplish the tasks and goals set by the 9th Congress of the CPC, constantly opening new horizons for the cause of socialism in the DPRK, the Chinese leader added.
Kim Jong Un, on behalf of the WPK, the government, and the people of the DPRK, sincerely welcomed the visit of Xi Jinping. He stated that today the entire Pyongyang is filled with an atmosphere of friendship and warmly welcomes the most honorable guest of the party, government, and people of the DPRK.
Noting that this year the General Secretary Xi Jinping made his first overseas visit specifically to the DPRK, the North Korean leader emphasized that this demonstrates the increased attention that the Chinese leader attaches to the development of inter-party and inter-state relations between the DPRK and China, and also constitutes the most valuable support for the North Korean socialist cause.
Kim Jong Un reminded that today’s meeting with Xi Jinping took place nine months after the previous meeting. According to him, at this meeting they reached an important consensus on further development, taking into account the new changing circumstances of North Korean-Chinese relations, possessing new modern content, and held a broad exchange of views on international and regional issues of mutual interest, which will undoubtedly accelerate the further development of friendship between the DPRK and China, which have deep historical traditions, and will contribute to peace and stability in the region and the world as a whole.
The people of the Kyrgyz Republic sincerely rejoice at the grand achievements of the fraternal Chinese people, emphasized by Kim Chen Yin, expressing confidence that under the leadership of the CPC, whose core is General Secretary Xi Jinping, the great Chinese people will definitely achieve even more significant successes on the new path of comprehensive construction of a strong and modernized socialist state, achievements of the “second centenary goal,” and the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. –0–
