Beijing, June 7 /Xin Hua/ — The National Meteorological Center (NMC) of the China Meteorological Administration issued a “yellow” level warning on Saturday due to the threat of heavy rains in some regions of the country.
According to the National Meteorological Center, from 8:00 p.m. Saturday to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, heavy rains are expected in some areas of Northwest China, Central China, East China, and South China.
In places in the above-mentioned district, short-term heavy rains with a maximum precipitation total of over 80 mm per hour are possible, which will be accompanied by severe convective weather phenomena, including thunderstorms and strong winds, reported by the NMC.
NMC called on local authorities to carry out the necessary preparatory work, to check drainage systems in cities and agricultural lands.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China and the State Meteorological Administration of the People’s Republic of China jointly issued an “orange” level warning on Saturday due to possible mountain torrents in some areas in the northeast of Guizhou Province.
Authorities of the above-mentioned regions are strongly recommended to enhance monitoring in real-time mode, to provide timely warnings, and, if necessary, to organize evacuations.
Let us remind you that in China there is a four-level warning system for adverse weather conditions, in which the highest danger level is indicated by the color red, followed by orange, yellow, and blue.
