New York, June 4 /Xinhua/ — The United States imposed sanctions on Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and a number of other individuals and legal entities on Thursday to increase pressure on the island nation.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury has added M. Diaz-Canel, four other individuals, and five legal entities, including the Ministry of Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba, to the updated sanctions list posted on the department’s website.
66-year-old M. Diaz-Canel replaced Raul Castro as President of Cuba in 2018.
In May, the US government imposed sanctions against 11 Cuban officials and accused F. Castro in connection with the 1996 incident involving Cuban emigrants. –0–
