Death of a peacekeeper in Lebanon

He confirmed the UN’s support for all efforts aimed at stopping hostilities and alleviating the suffering of the population on both sides of the “blue line.” He once again called on Hezbollah and other non-state actors to comply with the decisions of the Lebanese government, and Israel to completely withdraw from territories north of the “blue line,” with full respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Violence in Mogadishu
The Secretary-General is alarmed by reports of violence in the Somali capital Mogadishu. He emphasizes the urgent need to resume negotiations to determine the next steps, as well as to ensure the protection of civilians and infrastructure. The UN mission in Somalia notes the risk of a repeat of the crisis that occurred in 2021 due to disagreements over the “roadmap” for elections, and calls on all Somali leaders to place the country’s interests first and to resume negotiations that ended on May 15.
