Beijing, June 4 /Xinhua/ — Official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Mao Ning on Thursday confirmed that in relation to certain New Zealand lawmakers, a ban on entering China was introduced after they unsanctionedly visited the Chinese region of Taiwan, which is a violation of the one-China principle.
A Chinese diplomat made the corresponding statement at another departmental briefing, indicating that anyone who crosses the red line on the Taiwan issue will definitely pay for it.
Mao Ning noted that several legislators from New Zealand visited the Taiwan region without authorization, ignoring serious concerns and firm protests from the Chinese side. Their actions violated the one-China principle and constituted interference in the internal affairs of China, emphasized the official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, adding that in accordance with the current legislation of China, the Chinese side has decided to apply a series of measures against them, including a ban on entering the country.
“The One-China principle is a universal consensus of the international community and one of the basic norms of international relations. It is also the political foundation of China-New Zealand relations,” Mao Ning stated, calling on relevant parties to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the PRC and strictly observe the One-China principle.
