In the capital, the results of the children’s drawing contest “Heritage of My District,” held for the eighth time, were summed up. Young artists presented works dedicated to architectural monuments and their favorite corners of the city. This year, the children sent almost five thousand works for jury evaluation.

“Today we are summing up the results of a wonderful contest that allows both children and adults to look anew at familiar buildings and structures, architectural objects, parks and embankments, and to show all the beauty of the native district. It was very difficult to choose the winners, since all the works are wonderful, soulful, filled with light and love for the landmarks significant to our capital. In total, during the existence of the contest, more than 25 thousand works were submitted, and about a thousand schoolchildren became laureates.”Among the best works of this year are a kindergarten with elephants, the “Hermitage” pavilion of the Kuskovo estate, the old station in Southern Butovo, the folk museum in “Novogireevo,” and others,” said the head of the Department of Cultural Heritage of the city of Moscow.

Aleksei Emelyanov.

The awards ceremony took place at the State Museum of A.S. Pushkin. The contest jury, which included cultural and art figures, television hosts, and educators, determined the winners in two age categories: from seven to 11 and from 12 to 15 years. In each, works were noted in the directions “Amateurs” and “Professionals” (this category included students from art schools and studios).

In addition to the main nomination, participants were offered several additional ones, including traditional ones — “Estate Kaleidoscope,” “Lion-Guardian,” “Monument-Heroes,” as well as new ones dedicated to theatrical Moscow and urban sculptures installed in honor of notable dates and outstanding people. The largest number of works were submitted by schoolchildren for the nomination “Architectural Mosaic of Moscow,” timed to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

“For me, this competition is a long-standing and very dear story that began back when I was working in the Moscow City Duma. The submitted works captivate not only by the variety of techniques but also by the deep, mature contemplation of the theme. It is gratifying that in the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia, the participants turned to the architectural mosaic of the capital, managing to discern in it the interweaving of cultures and traditions. When assessing, I always try to look beyond craftsmanship in execution.”Yes, the professional school impresses, but it is much more valuable when a child with non-standard thinking chooses what seemed like an inconspicuous object in their neighborhood and presents it with such sincerity that the drawing begins to “resonate.” It is precisely the originality of perspective and the emotional richness that often transform an amateur work into a real discovery,” noted Nadezhda Babkina, artistic director of the Moscow State Academic Theater “Russian Song” and a competition jury member.

The children’s drawings show the urban estates of Kuskovo, Cheremushki-Znamenskoe, the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve, the building of a former kindergarten in the Shchukino district, known as the kindergarten with elephants, a rare example of wooden church architecture of the 19th century — the Transfiguration of the Lord Church in Bogorodskoe, Levenson’s dacha in Novo-Peredelkino, as well as the recently restored Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in Filya and much more.

The winners of the city stage in the main nomination were 12 people — three in each category. Another 28 schoolchildren became laureates in an additional nomination. In addition, the four best works were chosen by the townspeople in the project “Active citizen“.

Within the district stage, 36 laureates were selected in the main nomination, and at the district stage, more than 60 winners among enthusiasts of various ages were determined. Laureates of the district and regional stages are awarded diplomas and commemorative gifts at the administrations and prefectures of their respective districts and districts.

The complete list of winners of the “Heritage of My District” competition will be published onsite. You will be able to see the works of the competition laureates at an exhibition on one of the city boulevards and in the park of culture and leisure of Moscow.
