In the hospital school of the Moscow city project “UchimZnaem” ceremonial events dedicated to the completion of the academic year were held. For two thousand students undergoing long-term treatment in the hospital, the last bell rang. Concerts were also organized for the graduates. Moreover, for their high professionalism and contribution to the capital’s education system, 10 project teachers received state awards from the Moscow Government. “Thanks to the ‘UchimZnayem’ project, children undergoing long-term treatment in medical hospitals have the opportunity to continue mastering the school curriculum. This academic year, nine thousand children have undergone training in Moscow hospital schools, and a total of 60 thousand young patients have been served during the operation of the project,” the agency’s press service noted.
Celebrations in honor of the end of the academic year were held at the Center for Knowledge, Professional Competencies, and Mentorship in Hospital Pedagogy “UchimZnaem” and at eight medical organizations.This is the Morozovskaya Children’s City Clinical Hospital, the National Medical Research Center (NMRC) of Transplantology and Artificial Organs named after Academician V.I. Shumakov, the Russian Children’s Clinical Hospital, the NMRC of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology named after Dmitry Rogachev, the Scientific Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology — the Dr. Roshal Clinic, the NMRC of Oncology named after N.N. Blokhin, the Medical Rehabilitation Scientific Center “Russian Field” and the Federal Children’s Rehabilitation Center “Korablik”.Concerts with dance and musical numbers, video clips about school life were organized by teachers. The hospital’s chief doctors also joined in congratulating the graduates.
“Our main life principle is that illness should not put life on pause. There are many important things in life that cannot be postponed. Thanks to the city program, an even larger number of children will not have to catch up with their peers after recovery,” emphasized Sergey Sharikov, the head of the “We Teach to Know” project.
In addition, in a solemn atmosphere, teachers of the projects were awarded for their successful work in the capital’s education system. The Moscow City Award was presented to primary school teacher Alexandra Perushkina and art pedagogy teacher Alexander Baranov. The Mayor of Moscow’s gratitude was awarded to the head of the project group Artem Filatov.
The honorary certificate of the Moscow Department of Education and Science was received by social educator Alena Neshcheret, Russian language and literature teachers Olga Bityutskaya and Roman Mityashov, mathematician Lyudmila Khripkova, and foreign languages teacher Evgeniya Morozova. The Department of Education and Science of the city of Moscow awarded gratitude to Russian language and literature teacher Alina Levchenkova and public relations specialist Mariya Rakova.
In the hospital school of the capital, 250 teachers, psychologists, and speech therapists work, helping children to master the school curriculum, preparing for olympiads, the state final certification, and creative competitions. The children regularly meet with famous athletes, artists, and scientists. For example, over the past few years, more than 500 celebrities have held master classes for the children, among whom are footballer Dmitry Sychev and judoka Alexander Mikhailin.
“UchimZnaem” is a social and educational project aimed at creating a full-fledged educational environment for children undergoing long-term treatment in medical hospitals. It was established by the order of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and with the support of the Mayor of Moscow in 2014. The first educational institution opened at the National Medical Research Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Immunology named after Dmitry Rogachev. Subsequently, more than 40 regions of Russia joined the project, as well as partner countries: Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
