Beijing, June 3 /Xin Hua/ — China’s logistics sector returned to an expansion range in May, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing reported on Wednesday.
An index reflecting the state of the country’s logistics market and serving as an indicator of economic activity amounted to 50.3% in May, which is 0.6 percentage points higher than the April figure.
An index value above 50 indicates expansion, while a value below 50 indicates contraction.
“In May, the demand for industrial logistics accelerated, while the demand related to consumer logistics continued to show stable growth,” noted Liu Yuyan, director of the China Center for Logistics Information.
All subindexes demonstrated growth last month, including the subindex reflecting the overall volume of logistics operations, which amounted to 50.3%, increasing by 0.6 percentage points compared to the previous month, and the new orders subindex grew for three consecutive months and reached 50.2% in May.
Market expectations remain optimistic: the business expectations subindex is at 55.9%, according to the aforementioned federation. -0-
