Beijing, June 3 /Xinhua/ — China expresses deep concern about the new escalation of the situation in the Middle East and hopes that the relevant parties will make efforts to create the necessary conditions with the aim of restoring peace and stability in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region.

This was stated on Wednesday by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Mao Ning at another press conference, answering a question about the recent mutual attacks between the USA and Iran.

Mao Ning noted that the resumption of hostilities does not serve the interests of either side. China hopes that the respective parties will value the opportunity for peace, fulfill the obligations to ceasefire, facilitate the dynamics of negotiations, adhere to the resolution of disputes through political and diplomatic means, and also achieve a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire in the near future, so as to create necessary conditions for the restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East region and the Persian Gulf. -0-
