Chjuan national brocade is made from single-tone plain cotton threads as the base and multicolored silk threads that are woven perpendicularly into the fabric of the base threads. When creating Chjuan brocade, a technology is used in which “the main vertical threads pass through the entire brocade, and the additional horizontal threads are woven only in certain areas according to the pattern.”Chjuan national brocade is distinguished by exquisite and original patterns, bright colors, and along with Jun brocade from Nanking, Sichuan brocade from Chengdu, and Sung brocade from Suzhou, it is counted among the “four types of famous Chinese brocade,” and is also included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Over many years, craftsmen of the Chuam nationality from the Guansi-Chuam Autonomous Region, engaged in brocade weaving, not only preserve ancient traditions but also constantly introduce innovations — from weaving technology to the development of new products. They create a wide assortment of goods, including interior items, souvenirs for tourists, and fashionable clothing, which are in high demand both in China and abroad.
