Dear guests and conference participants!

The University welcomes you to the first Conference with international exercises of states – members of the Treaty Organization on Collective Security on responding to biological threats, which Rospotrebnadzor conducts during the year of the Russian Federation’s chairmanship in the CSTO.

Biological safety issues occupy one of the central places on the agenda of interstate cooperation, including the Eurasian region, which is united by a common epidemiological space.

Long-standing fruitful cooperation has been established between our countries on issues of prevention, study, and response to infections.

We effectively interact to prevent infectious threats and create a reliable system for warning and responding to epidemics. All member states take active measures to minimize risks associated with the spread of dangerous infectious diseases. Joint efforts of the CIS member countries can significantly increase the anti-epidemic potential, strengthen biological sovereignty, and ensure the safety of the lives and health of the citizens of our countries.

Russia consistently provides assistance in responding to outbreaks of dangerous infectious diseases. Over 10 years, more than 2 thousand units of laboratory equipment, several million Russian-made tests for infection diagnostics, as well as millions of doses of vaccines for the prevention of plague, cholera, hepatitis B were supplied to ODKB countries. 23 mobile laboratories of various formats were donated to 5 countries—members of the organization.More than 1,500 specialists from CIS countries have undergone training according to Russian methodologies on issues of epidemiology, biological safety, implementation of anti-epidemic measures, and modern methods of laboratory diagnostics.

The event in Saratov will allow strengthening the region’s capabilities of the ODKB in preventing biological threats of natural or artificial nature and responding to them.

I wish the delegates a successful and fruitful work.
