In recent years, Shanghai has been paying special attention to improving the level of professional services for the elderly and is promoting the modernization of existing institutions for the aged.
In accordance with the “Three-Year Action Plan to Improve the Quality of Institutions for the Care of Elderly People in Shanxi (2025–2027),” the “Initiative to Renovate Residential Premises and Create Comfort” is being fully implemented in Shanxi. By 2027, in all institutions for the care of elderly people operating for more than 10 years, residential premises will be renovated, household items, furniture, and equipment adapted for the daily life of elderly people will be updated or purchased to create an atmosphere of domestic comfort; the share of double rooms in institutions for the care of elderly people will reach 40%, the share of nursing care beds will reach 70%, and the total number of places for care of people with cognitive impairments will be 20,000.
