Beijing, May 31 /Xin Hua/ — The Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) in China’s non-manufacturing sector in May was 50.1, which is 0.7 percentage points higher than last month, according to official data released on Sunday.
According to data jointly published by the State Statistical Office /SSO/ of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Chinese Federation of Logistics and Procurement, in May of this year, the subindex of business activity in the service sector amounted to 50.3, rising into the expansion zone and increasing by 0.7 percentage points compared to the previous month.
As the data showed, this month against the background of restrained market activity in the air transport and real estate sectors, railway transport, communication services, broadcasting and satellite transmission, as well as the insurance sector remained in a zone of high activity, demonstrating a rapid increase in the overall business volume.
The business expectations index in the services sector was 55.4 in May, indicating an improvement in forecasts regarding the positive trend of the market.
The Subindex of business activity in the construction sector increased by 0.8 percentage points to 48.8 this month, while the business expectations index rose by 1 percentage point to 51.5.
Data published on Sunday also showed that the PMI index in China’s manufacturing sector in May was 50, while the composite PMI rose from 50.1 to 50.5. -0-
