Irkutsk, May 31 /Xin Hua/ — In the Russian city of Irkutsk on May 30, a reception was held in honor of Russian graduates who received education in China, and a photo exhibition dedicated to the achievements of modernization in the Chinese style took place.

More than 20 photographs from the information agency Xinhua were exhibited at the photo exhibition, showcasing the historical and innovative achievements of China in the economic, social, scientific-technical, and cultural spheres. The event, attended by over 200 people, was organized by the Consulate General of the PRC in Irkutsk and the Sino-Asian-European Bureau.

Maria Boronova, a lecturer at Irkutsk State University who studied and worked in China, carefully examined a photograph showing children playing with snow in traditional Chinese clothing. According to her, a photo exhibition is a very effective format to introduce Russians to Chinese culture. “We can not only look at a beautiful picture — these photographs evoke interest and a desire to learn more about China,” noted M. Boronova.

She believes that Chinese culture is characterized by a high degree of inclusiveness. China excels in adopting and mastering the best practices and experiences of other countries, which is one of the key reasons for the success of Chinese modernization. According to her, China’s high-tech sector is developing rapidly, while Russia has a larger personnel reserve in fundamental disciplines, which creates prerequisites for cooperation for a better future.

Visitor Ilaria Fedorova said that she had been to China many times, including to cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Qingdao. “I really liked this exhibition. I am deeply fascinated by the process of modernization and the achievements of China. High-speed trains, fast payment systems, and a high level of service bring convenience and safety to people,” she emphasized.

A research associate at Irkutsk State University, candidate of chemical sciences Anna Skitnevskaya visited China less than a month ago; she visited Beijing, Shanghai, Changchun, and Xi’an. “I engage in scientific collaboration, working with universities and research groups in China, together with Chinese experimenters. We have joint projects. Currently, we collaborate with research groups from four universities, and overall, I find it very comfortable to work.”I really like that from the Chinese side I see interest in the project, in its result, as well as how rapidly China is developing,” said A. Skitnevskaya.

Polina Obukhova studied in the city of Shenyang. “I was struck by the roads being perfectly smooth. Repair work is carried out at night when there is no traffic. By morning, all the work is finished, so no traffic jams occur,” shared P. Obukhova’s impressions, expressing the desire to go to China again.

“Now there is a visa-free regime between China and Russia, trips have become much more convenient. China has so many amazing, stunning natural places. And you can discover it again and again,” he added.
