A strategic session “New Model of Engineering Personnel Training: The New Role of the Educational Program Leader” took place at the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great. Heads of educational programs (HEPs), as well as administrative and managerial staff of the university, gathered for a brainstorming session, the results of which they presented to an authoritative jury.
The strategic session jury included: Vice-Rector for Educational Activities of SPbPU Lyudmila Pankova; Vice-Rector for Continuing and Pre-University Education of SPbPU Dmitry Tiononov; Director of the Engineering and Construction Institute of SPbPU Marina Petrochenko; Director of the Advanced Engineering School “Digital Engineering” of SPbPU Alexey Borovkov; Director of the Energy Institute of SPbPU Viktor Barskov; Director of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications of SPbPU Alexander Korotkov; Director of the Humanities Institute of SPbPU Natalya Chicherina; Director of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of SPbPU Valery Sushchenko;Head of the Office of Technological Leadership of SPbPU Oleg Rozhdestvensky.
The session moderator was Professor of practice at RANHGS, the Corporate Academy of Rosatom, the Corporate University of Sber, and the academic director of the flagship RANHGS programs, Elena Dugin.
The strategy session became the second event aimed at the comprehensive development of the institute of educational program leaders within the framework of the global transformation of educational policy in Poland. Its main goals were to define the role and functions of educational program leaders, develop a model, and coordinate interaction with other participants in the educational process to build a new corporate culture.
During the brainstorming session, participants identified the key challenges facing the educational program leaders, determined the necessary resources to overcome existing barriers, and formulated the most effective KPIs for the ROS. Based on the results of their joint work, Politea specialists developed proposals for the functional and organizational system of the ROS activities and presented them to the jury members. The jury, in turn, paid special attention to the developments of the strategy session participants and thoroughly reviewed all initiatives.
I was pleased to see a very professional and united team. Now I am confident that the large-scale changes currently taking place in the higher education system will not scare you, and you are ready to act and take on enormous responsibility. This is very valuable. I saw many interesting initiatives that we will study and consider. The most effective proposals will form the basis for the further transformation of our university within the framework of the Polytechnic Development Program and the Priority-2030 program,” commented the Vice-Rector for Educational Activities of SPbPU Lyudmila Pankova.
Many initiatives of the event participants were built through the prism of values that the new educational programs represent for the actual customers — high-tech companies. Since last year, every third new program at SPbPU has been launched taking into account the university’s key scientific and technological directions, the goals and objectives of national projects for technological leadership, and necessarily with an industrial partner.
Orientation towards our partners is undoubtedly very important, but the university must not only respond to the staffing demand of the industry to solve today’s tasks, but also look ahead, shaping the competencies of specialists who will build Russia’s technological future in the coming years. To be leaders, one must be proactive and think not just one, but two or three steps ahead,” summarized Oleg Rozhdestvensky, head of the Office of Technological Leadership.
