Xiamen, May 28 /Xinhua/ — A network of partner cities for the New Industrial Revolution was officially established on Wednesday at the Partnership Forum of BRICS countries on the New Industrial Revolution 2026, which took place in the city of Xiamen, Fujian Province /East China/.

The network was jointly created by 11 cities, including Durban in South Africa, Lagos in Nigeria, Belgrade in Serbia, Almaty and Astana in Kazakhstan, Kapošvár in Hungary, and the Chinese cities of Xiamen, Nanjing, Wuhan, Yinchuan, and Changzhou.

The network is focused on “green” and low-carbon development, digital transformation, cooperation in the production chain, and personnel training. It is aimed at creating a new platform for international cooperation between cities by establishing a permanent mechanism of contacts and communication, setting up business contacts, and joint use of innovative resources.

In recent years, China has intensified efforts to promote a new type of industrialization and has become the largest market in the world for the application of intelligent manufacturing technologies, said Li Lecheng, Minister of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC, at the opening ceremony of the forum.

China hopes for strengthened exchanges and cooperation with all interested parties and will work on expanding access to scenarios for the application of intelligent technologies in production, deepening cooperation in areas such as standards and certification, as well as activating business contacts in industry and exchange of highly qualified personnel, he noted.

Within the framework of the Forum, organized jointly by the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the PRC and the government of Fujian province, an opening ceremony, the main forum, sub-forums, and other accompanying events are held.
