In the near future, International Children’s Day will be celebrated. Thanks to the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” by 2026 more than 3 thousand km of regional and local roads leading to educational and children’s leisure institutions will be brought to regulatory condition. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“The safety of the younger generation is our unconditional priority. It is important not only to surround children with personal care, attention, and support, but also to create a maximally safe environment for their development. Modern and high-quality roads, convenient routes to schools, kindergartens, leisure institutions — an important part of this systemic work. This year, as part of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” we plan to bring almost 700 sections of regional and local roads leading to educational and leisure institutions to regulatory standards. Their total length is 3.1 thousand [kilometers].”«km», – said Marat Khusnullin.
Special attention was paid to school routes even in the past road season – with the beginning of the implementation of the national project “Infrastructure for Life”.
“Access roads to educational institutions are a separate topic of my meetings with the heads of regions. By 2025, the national project had brought the regulatory framework for almost 3 thousand km of roads leading to universities, colleges, schools, kindergartens, and other educational and leisure facilities. Road works were carried out both within populated areas and beyond their limits – on regional and intermunicipal roads along which school bus routes are organized,” noted Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin.
A comprehensive approach to road repairs is one of the features of the national project “Infrastructure for Life.” School routes should be not only convenient and comfortable but also safe.
“During the road repair work on such an object, road workers not only renew the pavement but also arrange safety elements: pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, guardrails, road signs, markings, photo and video surveillance cameras. However, to reduce road traffic injuries, educational work is no less important: it is necessary from early childhood to develop safe behavior skills on the road.”In particular, with the support of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” the all-Russian online Olympiad “Safe Roads” is held annually; in 2025 alone, 6.3 million schoolchildren from across the country participated,
In Yakutsk this road season, they are resurfacing the access road to one of the largest adaptive educational complexes for children with disabilities in Russia. It is designed for children of all ages and will provide not only basic but also additional education.
On the 200-meter section from Sergelya Highway to the educational institution, the carriageway will be resurfaced and sidewalks will be arranged. The road will be two-lane, lighting lines will be installed here. The work is planned to be fully completed in October 2026.
Also, the major overhaul of the Sergelya Highway section from the Gimein ring to house 1 at the 8th km will be completed. The 3.5 km long facility is also part of the route to the Adaptive Complex.
One more project is the construction of a highway from the “Nam” route to the educational complex “Point of the Future,” as well as to the residential quarter and microdistrict “Development” of the Zhatay urban district. The length is 2.2 km. The complex includes a kindergarten, a school, a center for additional education, as well as residential complexes for teachers and foster families.
The new route will be made of asphalt concrete with two lanes of traffic. The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, outdoor lighting lines, bus stops, and bicycle paths.
In the historical center of Astrakhan, Kommunisticheskaya Street is being repaired, which provides transportation accessibility to several educational institutions at once. One of them is the Astrakhan Social Pedagogical College. Its history spans 113 years. During this time, more than 30 thousand educators have acquired their professional skills within the college walls.
Also, on Kommunisticheskaya Street is located Secondary General Education School No. 6. In addition, the road leads to the Astrakhan Music College named after M.P. Mussorgsky, whose history spans over one hundred years.
During the repair process, along the entire length of Kommunisticheskaya – 1.6 km – the asphalt pavement will be renovated, lighting will be installed, and road signs will be updated.

In Izhevsk, repair work is being done on Nizhnyaya Street on the section from 7th Podlesnaya to Kirov Street. The length of the site is 0.9 km, here is located school No. 62 named after Y. A. Gagarin. Izhevsk school No. 62 was the first in the USSR to receive the right to bear the name of Yuri Gagarin—the very next day after he made his space flight. And in 1965, a folk museum dedicated to cosmonautics was created at the school.
