Beijing, May 28 /Xin Hua/ — The People’s Bank of China /PBOC, Central Bank/ and the National Bank of Serbia /Central Bank of Serbia/ have signed a bilateral currency swap agreement again.

The volume of the currency swap in the specified agreement was increased from the initial 1.5 billion yuan (approximately 220 million US dollars) to 5 billion yuan, the PBOC noted in its statement on Thursday.

This agreement will be valid for five years and may be extended by mutual consent of the parties.

The statement says that the re-signing of the bilateral currency swap agreement and the increase in its volume will contribute to strengthening currency and financial cooperation between the two countries, thereby facilitating the simplification of bilateral trade and investment activities, as well as supporting the stability of the financial market.
