Almaty, May 26 /Xin Hua/ — A solemn ceremony for the laying of the foundation of the Eurasian integrated green copper industry project took place in the territory of the special economic zone “Aktobe.” This was reported on Tuesday on the official website of the government of Kazakhstan.

The event was attended by the Deputy Akim of Aktobe Region Abzal Abdikarimov, Chairman of the Board of JSC “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” Sultangali Kinjakulov, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Aktobe Guo Yu, as well as representatives of government agencies, the business community, and international organizations.

The new plant with a design capacity of 25 thousand tons of refined copper per year will ensure deep processing of copper scrap collected from the regions of the republic, and will turn Aktobe into a regional hub of the copper industry.

“This project is a concrete result of the negotiations held in the city during our working trip to the PRC at the beginning of the year, as well as the first plant to be implemented in the territory of this special economic zone. Therefore, this initiative will become a new point of economic growth for the region, give impetus to the creation of new jobs and increase the competitiveness of domestic products. We are confident that this project will become a bright example of mutual trust and effective economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and China,” noted the Deputy Akim of Aktobe region A. Abdikarimov.

The total volume of investment in the project is about 100 million US dollars. The enterprise launch is planned for 2027. During the project implementation, 250 permanent jobs will be created. The manufactured products are copper wire rod and cable products. The finished products will be targeted both at the domestic market and for export to countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union. –0–
