“Samaraneftegaz” (part of the oil-producing complex “Rosneft”) by the end of 2025 replaced industrial category hydrocarbon reserves by 17.6 million tons of oil equivalent, replenishing oil and gas production by 164%.
The largest increase – 8.7 million tons of oil equivalent – was achieved through drilling new wells. In 2025, Samaraneftegaz built four exploratory appraisal wells, during testing of which industrial oil inflows with flow rates of up to 80 m3/day were obtained.
In addition, at the deposits being developed over many years, 13 new deposits were discovered with a total volume of reserves in categories AB1C1+B2C2 of 1.9 million tons of oil equivalent. The company’s geologists conducted a refinement of promising directions for the search for traps in the Buzuluk depression and adjacent areas. As a result of the research conducted, 208 promising objects for the search for reef-type objects were identified. Of these, 21 objects with potential resources of more than 100 thousand tons of oil each are recommended for exploratory drilling.
A significant increase – 5.8 million tons of oil equivalent – was achieved through the revaluation of reserves based on the results of previously completed seismic exploration work, geological and technical measures, and acquisitions. In the Samara region, the revaluation of reserves is conducted taking into account additional exploration of poorly studied areas, refinement of the geological structure of the developed fields, and the selection of methods for bringing promising deposits into production.
Currently, 132 fields are accounted for by “Samaraneftegaz” in the Samara and Orenburg regions. Their development is carried out using horizontal and inclined directional wells, which allow increasing production rates and the oil recovery factor.
Increasing the efficiency of reserves replenishment and the subsequent development is one of the key elements of Rosneft’s strategy. Every year, Samaraneftegaz specialists conduct targeted work on increasing the mineral resource base. The company implements a geological exploration program for new and mature fields using highly effective software complexes, including those developed by Rosneft, carrying out geological and technical measures and introducing modern technologies to improve reservoir oil recovery.
