May 26 is celebrated as Russian Entrepreneurship Day – a holiday for people who create new companies, launch innovative projects, and form the economy of the future. Today, entrepreneurs are becoming an important part of the country’s technological development: it is they who implement modern solutions, develop digital services, and drive various industries forward, including the construction sector.
Modern entrepreneurship is increasingly closely connected with the university environment. It is precisely in the university that ideas emerge, which can later turn into in-demand products and engineering solutions. Therefore, SPbGASU actively supports student initiatives and develops the direction of technological entrepreneurship.
One of such projects became the “Startup as a Diploma” program. It allows students to present not only scientific research as their graduation qualification work but also a full-fledged startup project with prospects for further development and commercialization.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and is being developed at SPbGASU since 2023. Its main task is to help students try themselves as entrepreneurs already during their studies, learn to work with real market demands, and create practice-oriented solutions.
Today, professional knowledge alone is not enough for the successful implementation of projects. Entrepreneurship requires initiative, the ability to analyze industry needs, work in a team, and offer modern technological solutions. It is precisely such skills that participants in the “Startup as a diploma” program acquire.
This is especially relevant for the architecture and construction industry, where digital technologies, BIM design, services for the urban environment, ecological solutions, and new construction materials are actively developing.Student projects of SPBGASUOriented towards real industry tasks and can be in demand by the professional community and potential investors.
An important part of the program is the interaction of students with business representatives and industry experts. Project participants have the opportunity to consult with practicing specialists, present their ideas, and receive professional feedback. This format helps bring the educational process closer to the real conditions of entrepreneurial activity.
In addition, participation in the project allows students to develop skills in project management, financial planning, public speaking, and teamwork — competencies that are in demand today both in business and in the professional engineering environment.
SPBGASU consistently supports the development of student initiatives, creating opportunities for the implementation of their own projects and the introduction of innovative solutions. On Russian Entrepreneurship Day, programs that help young specialists take their first steps in the field of technological entrepreneurship and turn ideas into real projects acquire special significance.
Defenses of final qualifying works (VKRs) in the form of startup projects are scheduled for June. We wish the graduates good luck and further success in implementing their initiatives!
