Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held a meeting dedicated to the readiness for the admissions campaign of the 2026/2027 academic year at the university and college.

The Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov, head of Rosobrnadzor Anzor Muzaev, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Sport Alexander Nikitin, Deputy Minister of Health Tatyana Semyonova, Deputy Head of Rostrud Denis Vasilyev took part in it.

The admission campaign for higher education institutions and the organization of secondary vocational education (SVE) will last from June 20 to August 15; in colleges and technical schools, if there are available places, it will continue until November 25.

“The preparation for the admissions campaign has entered the final stretch: it is important to ensure its qualitative, transparent, and safe conduct. In the new academic year, about 880 thousand budget places are available for SPO programs and over 620 thousand in higher education. The largest number is in engineering and technical specialties. We strive for students to choose specialties in demand in the labor market and successfully find employment in the future,” reported Dmitry Chernishenko.

Among the priorities, the Vice Premier also noted the control of technical readiness of digital services, support for preferential categories of applicants, including participants in special military operations and their families, attracting foreign students — in accordance with the task set by President Vladimir Putin, by 2030 there should be no fewer than 500 thousand students in universities and research organizations.

The number of places for targeted admission to higher education is over 83 thousand, mostly in fields related to medicine, engineering, pedagogy, and agriculture. This year, the targeted quota has been fully detailed for the first time according to customers, areas of study, universities, and employment regions (previously it was set as a percentage nationwide). Unfilled quota places can be redistributed for enrolling participants in special operations and their children. There are significant changes in targeted training for the SPO program – applicants who have submitted an application for concluding such a contract are granted the right to priority enrollment.

Digital services help make the process of submitting documents faster and more understandable – “Online Admission to Universities” and “Online Admission to SPO” – their pilot testing is being launched this year in five regions: Volgograd, Kostroma, Leningrad, Ulyanovsk regions, and Krasnodar Territory.

Minister of Education and Science Valery Falkov noted that the preparation for the admissions campaign is proceeding as usual and in accordance with the schedule.

“Since the year, the popularity of the superservice ‘Online University Applications’ has been growing annually. This year, 1824 universities along with their branches have connected to it, which is 100 more than the previous year,” reported Valery Falkov.

Also, starting from May 1, a unified contact center for applicant support began operating. By calling the hotline (8 (800) 444–51–15), future freshmen and their parents will be able to get answers to questions related to submitting documents to universities, including with the help of the “University Admission Online” service.

36 pedagogical universities subordinate to the Ministry of Education are also connected to the “University Admission Online” superservice.

“Today, the system of secondary vocational education is on the rise. Every year, interest among young people in studying at colleges grows. On average, the competition is 3–4 people per place, and for certain specialties, up to 15 applications, which is a very good result. Such success has been achieved thanks to the dedication of teachers, masters of industrial training, and curators. Our common task is to consolidate these achievements, relying on unified admission rules, active career guidance, and close cooperation with employers within the framework of the “Professionalism” project,” noted Sergey Kravtsov.
