Abuja, May 24 /Xinhua/ — At least 12 suspects in terrorism were killed in a shootout with Nigerian military personnel after attempting to attack a military facility in Borno State in the northeast of the country.
In his statement, the official representative of the Nigerian army, Sani Uba, reported that early Friday morning suspected terrorists tried to infiltrate a military facility in the city of Kirava on the border of Nigeria and Cameroon, but were repelled by fighters of the 153rd Battalion of the operational group and allied forces.
According to him, government troops responded with intense fire, forcing the attackers to retreat toward the border with Cameroon.
According to military data, several attackers fled the scene, possibly having sustained gunshot wounds.
