Dear colleagues, friends!

I would like to welcome all participants of today’s meeting. I sincerely thank the President, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, esteemed Serdar Gurbangulyyevich Berdimuhamedov, for the invitation to hold the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States here, in Ashgabat. And of course, for the traditional hospitality and warm reception of the Russian delegation.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, I would like to congratulate the fraternal people of Turkmenistan on the recently passed Constitution Day and State Flag Day. And of course, all the residents of the capital – on the upcoming City Day. I wish you further success and prosperity.

Since January, Turkmenistan chairs the CIS body. Russia supports the priorities of the Turkmen chairmanship in the Commonwealth.

This year, the CIS marks a significant historical date — 35 years since its founding. I want to congratulate all of you. And, taking this opportunity, to dear Abdulla Nigmatovich(A. Aripov)to wish all the very best, to congratulate him on the upcoming jubilee.

As emphasized by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, over the course of decades we have developed special relations both in the humanitarian sphere and on a human level. The main thing for us is to ensure the well-being of the citizens of our countries.

This year, the Commonwealth was declared the Year of Health by the decision of the leaders. In Russia, priority attention is given to improving the accessibility and quality of medical care for citizens, the introduction of the latest innovative technologies, methods into medical practice. Ready to share experience with immediate neighbors and friends.

It is important that Turkmenistan, as the chair of the CIS body, conducts substantive work in this direction, building concrete interaction with the World Health Organization. The development of partnership both within the CIS and with international structures is, of course, an indispensable condition for strengthening people’s health.

Dear colleagues, in the Commonwealth of Independent States we rely on the principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect, security, and stability.

A unique format of cooperation has been formed in the most diverse areas, which brings tangible benefits to all our countries. This, for example, concerns trade relations. Thus, in January-February of the current year, Russian trade turnover with the CIS states increased by almost 6.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
