Tehran, May 23 /Xinhua/ — Official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran Esmail Baghaei stated on Friday that Tehran and Washington are far from reaching an agreement.
“The ongoing /diplomatic/ process and the presence of senior Pakistani officials in Tehran do not mean that we have reached a turning point or a decisive situation,” said E. Bagai on the air of the state TV channel IRIB TV.
Currently, the commander of the Pakistani army, Asim Munir, and the Interior Minister of Pakistan, Moeed Yusuf, are in the capital of Iran for an exchange of messages.
“We cannot say that we have reached that stage where an agreement is close,” said E. Bagai, noting that the disagreements between Iran and the United States are very “deep and numerous,” and diplomacy requires time.
E. Bagai emphasized that the negotiations are aimed at ending hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, adding that Iran’s nuclear program is not on the agenda at this stage.
According to him, it is also necessary to analyze and discuss the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the US attack on the ship linked to Iran.
On Friday, the Al-Arabiya TV channel, citing informed sources, reported that a potential peace agreement between Iran and the United States will include nine points.
The project provides for an immediate, comprehensive, and unconditional ceasefire on all fronts, guarantees against strikes on military, civilian, or economic infrastructure, cessation of military operations, as well as cessation of information warfare, the “Al-Arabiya” reported.
