The activity of the UN Stabilization Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) is not limited to delivering humanitarian cargo. Military, police, and civilian personnel of the mission conduct information campaigns among the population. For example, local residents were informed about the main preventive measures, such as observing personal hygiene, as well as about the risks associated with consuming meat from wild animals.

Similar events took place in Fataki among internally displaced persons and local residents. Using loudspeakers, mission representatives reminded about the necessity of regular hand washing, proper use of personal protective equipment, and timely recognition of Ebola symptoms.

As noted in the mission, such measures are aimed at increasing awareness and protecting the most vulnerable population groups.

According to the latest data, more than 500 suspected cases of the disease have been registered in the DRC. The total number of deaths since the beginning of the outbreak has exceeded 130 people. There is currently no vaccine against the circulating strain of the virus, nor are there approved treatment methods.
