Almaty, May 22 /Xin Hua/ — In 2025, Kazakhstan will save 874 million cubic meters of irrigation water by applying water-saving technologies on a territory of 543.5 thousand hectares. This was reported on Friday on the website of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the country.
By 2030, the area of application of water-saving technologies is planned to be increased to 1.3 million hectares, which will ensure an annual saving of 2.2 billion cubic meters of water, the statement says.
214.6 billion tenge / 455.2 million US dollars in investment subsidies are planned to be allocated for water conservation financing in 2026-2028, which is four times more than in the previous three-year period.
The new Water Code of Kazakhstan also obliges the country’s industrial enterprises to gradually transition to systems of water recycling and reuse within seven years, which will allow increasing the share of water reuse in industry up to 28 percent. –0–
