Moscow, May 22 /Xin Hua/ — Chinese students from leading Moscow music universities performed masterpieces of Russian classical music at the fifteenth “Moscow Spring” festival. The concert took place at the Society of Russian-Chinese Friendship /ORKD/ in Moscow on Friday.
With a welcoming word to the participants, the first deputy chairman of the ORKD, laureate of the Friendship Order of the CPG, Galina Kulikova, addressed them. “This concert is your gift,” she said, noting that over 15 years of its existence, the “Moscow Spring” festival has become an integral part of the Russian-Chinese cultural dialogue, uniting the young creative forces of both countries.
G. Kulikova linked the holding of the current festival with the recent successful state visit of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to China, which became an important stage in the development of Russian-Chinese relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction in a new era. “Friendship between our peoples is the guarantee of our common security and further joint successes,” she emphasized.
The festival program, compiled by the honored artist of the Russian Federation Tso Chzhenguan, included musical masterpieces of Russia — works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Mily Balakirev. During the concert, young Chinese vocalists performed on stage, as well as instrumentalists who presented solo parts on the piano, cello, and flute.
