Moscow, May 21 /TASS/ — Only Iran can make decisions about how to manage enriched uranium. This was stated on Thursday at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“I want to remind you of Russia’s fundamental position on the inviolability of Iran’s right to develop a peaceful nuclear program in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. The decision on how to exercise this right, including in the context of uranium enrichment and the possession of nuclear material at its disposal, can only be made by the Iranian people themselves,” emphasized M. Zakharova.
According to the diplomat, Russia is fully committed to providing the necessary assistance to Tehran and Washington in implementing decisions that can be reached during the course of negotiations. This issue can only be resolved through political and diplomatic methods based on international law and with due consideration of Iran’s interests, added M. Zalarov.
