Beijing, May 20 /Xinhua/ — On Wednesday, Chairman of the National People’s Congress of China, Li Zhanshu, held talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is on a state visit to China. During the talks, both sides agreed once again to extend the validity of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation between China and Russia.

Si Jinping noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russia partnership relations and strategic cooperation, as well as the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between the PRC and the Russian Federation.

The reason why Chinese-Russian relations have gradually reached today’s high level lies in the fact that both countries have been able to continuously deepen political mutual trust and strategic interaction with unwavering persistence, expand cooperation in various fields in the pursuit of achieving even greater successes, as well as steadfastly defend international justice and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, emphasized Xi Jinping.

“Being permanent members of the UN Security Council and major states in the world, China and Russia should, orienting themselves towards a strategic and long-term perspective, contribute to the development and revival of our countries through comprehensive strategic interaction of even higher quality and give impetus to the formation of a more just and reasonable system of global governance,” said Xi Jinping.

China and Russia are developing an all-encompassing partnership and strategic interaction in a new era based on equality, mutual respect, fidelity to promises, and mutually beneficial cooperation, noted Xi Jinping.

According to him, political trust between the two countries is constantly strengthening, there is a steady advancement of cooperation in various fields such as economy and trade, investment, energy, science and technology, humanitarian and interregional exchanges, and the ties between the peoples of the two countries are becoming even stronger.

Si Zingpin emphasized that Chinese-Russian relations have entered a new stage of more effective and more dynamic development.

Unwavering support for the long-term, healthy, stable, and high-quality development of Chinese-Russian relations is a strategic choice made by both sides, based on the fundamental interests of the two countries and the general trend of global development, said Xi Jinping.

Xi Jinping called on China and Russia to fully implement the important agreements reached by him and V. Putin, to use historical opportunities and continue to strengthen mutual trust, cooperation, and friendship between the two countries.
